not on facebook
i continue to resist invitations, even those from ppl i like, to join facebook. i spend way too much time on the goddamn computer as it is, and the most frequent "pro" argument i've heard re: facebook is "it's a great way to reconnect with ppl you knew in high school/college." i can only remember the names of about ten people i went to high school with, and i don't feel particularly motivated to reconnect with any of 'em. i stay on myspace to promote my bands (and, to a lesser extent, my scrawl). one social networking site is plenty, thank you very much.

For me, facebook is alot easier & quicker to use, so it can save time if that is what you want (and, of course, like myspace, if you wanna kill large blocks of time, you can do that too)...
Plus you can hook it up where your blogspot ramblings are posted direct to your facebook page, where more people will see them...
The myspace blogs have gotten a little bit better & easier to utilize & add links than they used to be, but I don't think most myspacers are aware you can subscribe to the blogs there ...
Myspace is primarily good for people HEARING your music, I'm finding FB is far superior for promoting your music & especially promoting gigs & events...
So for anyone trying to make a go at the music biz nowadays, I think utilizing both is essential...
There are a few holdouts like yourself (seemingly rebelling just for rebellion's sake) but MOST people I know do FB more now. So if you are trying to promote & expose yourself, you reach a bigger audience, especially in the older hipster crowd that we are among...
As far as re-connecting with hi school & ancient friends, FB is good for that if that's what you want, but that's not my bag...
A couple have tracked me down & I hear from them once or twice & then never again...
So, does answer your question, why facebook?
amen. No reason whatsoever. The only bands on there are there to like dude says "make a go at the music biz." If it's about the art, it's a waste of time. It's all cookie-cutter and does absolutely nothing to enhance/further/covey anything artistic whatsoever. No bulletin capacity either, just a flowing stream of random comments. It's white, cubical and "user-friendly" for vanilla people who are threatened by jazzed-up Myspace pages. Plus you have to deal with that batallion of high school people best left long-forgotten.
Try signing up only to have family members want to "friend" you. Yeah it's good to catch up with the girls you banged in high school but otherwise a complete waste of fucking time. I've decided to stay off there for a while. They should call it "social not working" instead of "social networking". Man Ken I love it you scrawl this blog...I have like ten internet sites I hit on a regular basis and I come here at least weekly. How is the Epi treating you? That thing needs some new keys. Bang on old chap...
